Designed specifically for military pilots and aircrew it is worn over flyer's coverall CWU-27/P and over the immersion suit CWU-86/P , the LPU-20/P is a light weight, fire resistant and highly durable inflatable collar with an integrated survival vest .Providing a full 37 Lbs of buoyancy , the inflatable cell -available in manual inflation-is comprised of two independent chambers , separated by a fully integrated floating baffle system. This provides for an orally inflated reserve chamber in the event that the primary chamber was subject to damages.

The aircrew Life Preserver Survival Vest (LPSV) version LPU-20/P weighing aproximately 3.2 Lbs unloaded -it contains specific pockets designed for stowage of US Government survival accessories , personal locator beacon , survival rescue kits, strobe light, food rations etc .The LPSV outer cell is made of sage green fire resistant Nomex . The inflation collar is designed to integrate manual and automatic inflation and optional a PLB flex antenna can be installed .

The LPSV is designed with a lifting harness on purpose for emergency hoisting

The LPU-17/P, LPU-18/P, LPU-19 and LPU-20/P are designed specifically for pilots and aircrew to be worn over flight coveralls or immersion suits as an inflatable cell integrated into the survival vest. The inflation cell can be equippped with a PLB flex antenna compatible to MR-512 an standard equipped with FL18 water light and dye marker / shark repellant .

The LPU-17/P, LPU-18/P, LPU-19 and LPU-20/P are designed specifcally for pilots and aircrew to be worn over flight coveralls or immersion suits is an inflatable cell integrated into a survival vest.  Providing a full 37 lbs of slf righting buoyancy, the inflatable cell - available in manual or auto inflation - is comprised of two independent chambers separated by a fully integrated floating baffle system.  This provides for an orally inflated reserve chamber in the event that the primary chamber becomes damaged.

Each vest is lightweight - approximately 4 lbs unloaded - and contains specific pocket requirements for stowage of survival items such PLB,survival kits , food rations,flare kits and strobe lights as well a pocket designed to integrate a personal weapon.  It is made with a Nomex fire resistant cover and mesh for high durability.  As well, each vest is integrated with a lifting harness for over water rescue by helicopter, and contains a buddy line and SOLAS emergency whistle.

MATERIALS
The high frequency welded construction of the inflatable cell utilizes polyurethane coated nylon fabric which exceeds the requirements of both MIL-C-83489 and AMS 3272/1.  The protective LP cover is constructed from fire resistant 6 oz Nomex® aramid fabric.
