Designed specifically for military pilots and aircrew it is worn over flyer's coverall CWU-27/P and over the immersion suit CWU-86/P , the LPU-20/P is a light weight, fire resistant and highly durable inflatable collar with an integrated survival vest .Providing a full 37 Lbs of buoyancy , the inflatable cell -available in manual inflation-is comprised of two independent chambers , separated by a fully integrated floating baffle system. This provides for an orally inflated reserve chamber in the event that the primary chamber was subject to damages.

The  aircrew Life Preserver Survival Vest version LPU-20/P weighing aproximately 3.2 Lbs unloaded -it contains specific pockets designed for stowage of US Government survival accessories , personal locator beacon , survival rescue kits, strobe light, food rations etc .The LPSV outer cell is made of sage green fire resistant Nomex . The inflation collar is designed to integrate manual and automatic inflation and optional a PLB flex antenna can be installed .

The LPSV is designed with a lifting harness on purpose for emergency hoisting

Materials 

High frequency welded construction of the inflatable cell utilhzes polyurethane coated Nylon fabric  which exceeds the requirements of both MIL-C-83489 and AMS 3272/1. The protective Life Preserver cover is constructed from fire resistant 6 oz Nomex aramid fabric

 Specifications 


The sage green fire  resistant Nomex III , Aramid  container of the LPU-20 Life preserver & survival Vest  has been designed with pockets for the carriage  of US government specified  survival equipment a PLB and a personal weapon  of the type    SIG-226, Walter PPH-2, COLT 38, Berreta or equivalent and close to the pistol 

pocket a reserve magazine pocket .

 

The protective container of the inflation cell is attached directly to the survival vest by means of a heavy duty non corrosive zipper which allows easy removal of the inflation cell container  and the  use of the Survival Vest only on over land operations. 

 

The survival vest incorporates adjustable waist belts of sage green nylon webbing to provide both preliminary wearer adjustment upon donning the LPU-20/P and a final adjustment just before or after water entry provided no automatic inflation environment.

The inflation cell contains aviation yellow dye marker and is designed at 275 Newton or 78Lbs single chambered cell. The inflation cell is equipped with a manual activation inflator and an oral inflation tube. An auto inflator type FLU-9/P or FLU-12/Pare optional feature of the Aeromiltec LPU-20/P.

Sizes 


 The Aeromiltec LPU-20/P is available on 4 sizes. The vest can be adjusted at chest and waist, using the adjustment straps, to fit different wearers as well as different equipment set up. The body sizes are used only as a guideline to determine the right size, however the correct size and fit must be ensured by the use of fitting samples.

The 3 pockets are designed primarily for USAF,USN,USMC, USAAV ,USCG and NATO specified safety and survival equipment such as SRU-31/P survival kit, MK-79 Miniflare Pack, Food Rations and Code, Day & Night Flare MK-13 MOD-0, Survival Radios PRC-112, PRC-140 (USN) , PRC-434 ,MR-511 (GAF) SARBE-5,6 and 7 series. 1 pocket has been designed for a personal weapon equivalent to SIG-226, Walther PPH-2, Beretta, Colt-45, Heckler & Koch, etc

 

The safety lanyards of the PLB, MS2000M Strobe Light, Miniflare Kit etc are available on each accessories storage pockets . On the back of the LPSV an optional CAMELBACK   ( water reservoir with NBC and filtering cap can be designed for Helo operations for hot environment or prolonged flight operations)  Each storage pocket is designed with a zipper ,metallic push buttons and safety straps and buckles.  The LPU-20/P is available in a few derivates such as LPU-17/P,      LPU-18, 19 and Modified Hamkan series .
